Tucanos Brazilian Grill Brings Brazilian Flair to University Place
Orem, Utah (August, 23, 2016) – Brazilian flair is coming to Orem. Tucanos Brazilian Grill, a fun, festive churrascaria inspired by the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, today announced that it has entered into a lease agreement with Woodbury Corporation to open a new Tucanos location at University Place in Orem, Utah. Construction is expected to commence later this fall on the popular eatery, with the opening slated for sometime in 2017.
Founder Steve Oldham and co-founder Joe Heeb opened the first Tucanos Brazilian Grill in 2000 in Provo, Utah, and have since opened nine more locations across the United States including a location within the Gateway in Salt Lake City. The Tucanos Brazilian Grill in Provo has become a very popular dining destination in Utah Valley, with long waits being the norm.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity to grow within University Place,” said Steve Oldham, president. “Utah is where we started, and we are excited to bring the fun and festivity of Rio de Janeiro to Orem. The new location at University Place will allow us greater seating capacity and an ability to provide even better service for our Utah County guests in an updated and vibrant atmosphere.”
Owned and Developed by Woodbury Corporation, University Place is a $500 million renovation project taking place over the next several years that is centered around what was formerly known as University Mall. The mixed-use project now not only includes shopping, but offers office space, residential living space, an indoor and outdoor children’s play area, and outdoor green space with a choreographed water fountain.
“Tucanos is the exact type of restaurant we were hoping to attract to University Place,” said Randy Woodbury, president of Woodbury Corporation. “We believe our current and future office partners, residential partners, and shoppers will enjoy having such a popular restaurant within walking distance.”
Tucanos’ new location will continue to feature the parade of freshly grilled skewers of meat, the award winning Salad Festival, and the friendly, personal service that people have come to expect from Tucanos. The 7,500 square foot restaurant will boast two private dining areas, a 1,000 square foot covered patio, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, and an outside fountain for guests to enjoy. The expanded location will allow Tucanos to accommodate over 300 guests at one time.
Tucanos combines the unique serving style of the traditional Brazilian grilling experience with the flair and festivity of the beaches of Rio de Janeiro – an exhibition-style meal surrounded by flames and colors. Churrasco, a traditional method of barbecuing in Brazil, is known for giving big flavor and juicy texture to the meat. Once the meat is cooked to perfection, servers bring the 15 skewers of grilled meats, vegetables and carve it tableside. The experience also includes an abundant and award-winning Salad Festival, which features over 70 hot and cold selections.
“Tucanos is all about experiencing something new, celebrating all that life has to offer and leaving our doors with a smile on your face. The University Place location will allow us to do that for even more Utahns.” said Joe Heeb, CFO.
