University Place Reveals Its 2019 Holiday Events

  • A Full Slate of Activities Starts with the Halloween-themed Pumpkin Week and Ends with a New Year’s Eve Party
  • The 2019 Holiday Schedule was Specially Curated to Feature a Mix of Exciting New Events with Beloved Traditions

 OREM, Utah (October 10, 2019) – University Place, a 120-acre mixed-use development project formerly known as University Mall, today officially kicked off its 2019 holiday season by releasing its annual schedule of family-friendly community events.

All of the festivities will be held at The Orchard, University Place’s outdoor community gathering space, and will begin on Monday, October 14 with the return of Pumpkin Week, a full five days of Halloween and fall-themed celebrations. Nearly two dozen additional events are scheduled throughout the rest of the year, including:

OCTOBER

Pumpkin Week
Monday, October 14 – Friday, October 18

Monday: Learn & Play Pumpkin Party, 11:00 a.m. Kids of all ages can join us for a reading of “I Like Pumpkin” by Jerry Smath, and will get a pumpkin cookie and mini pumpkin to decorate.
Tuesday: Corn Hole Competition, 6 00 p.m. Bring a partner and team up to participate in this competition. We are giving out hundreds of dollars in cash and prizes for this event, including a prize for most creative uniform.
Wednesday: Haunted Orchard, 6:00 p.m. New this year is a spooky train rides, live entertainment, scary storytelling, activities and crafts.
Thursday: Pumpkins, Pets, and Pie – Oh My!, 6:00 p.m. Come celebrate the Halloween season with an annual costume contest, pet costume contest, pie, and pumpkin carving contest for major cash prizes. (Registration is required.)
Friday: Movie night, 7:00 p.m. Come right at 7:00  to see our pumpkin drop, followed by “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. Bring blankets and chairs, popcorn will be provided.

Haunted Half Marathon
Saturday, October 26
8:30 a.m.
The Haunted Half Marathon finish line will return to The Orchard at University Place. Come cheer on the runners as they finish their race.

Trick-or-Treating
Thursday, October 31
4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Bring the kids dressed in costumes to go trick-or-treating at the shops at University Place.

NOVEMBER

Holiday Lighting In The Orchard
Monday, November 18
6:00 p.m.
Join us as we illuminate the Orchard for the first time this season with a unique walk through experience. There will be live entertainment and kids will get to take home a keepsake (while supplies last).

Santa’s Grand Arrival
Friday, November 29
9:30 a.m.
A tradition at University Place for over 30 years, join us as we officially welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to University Place. Enjoy live entertainment plus free hot cocoa and treats.
During University Place’s regular opening hours, Santa Claus will be available daily for visits and photos at Santa’s Village from November 29 to December 24. Visits are complimentary, and each child will receive a special treat.

Giving Tree
Monday, November 29 – Saturday, December 14
10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
The ornaments on this tree will be provided by the Utah County Sub for Santa and represent individuals in the community who need special help during the holiday season. Simply check out an ornament and bring back unwrapped gifts by December 14, to ensure delivery before Christmas.

DECEMBER

 Bakers of Utah Gingerbread House Competition
Monday, December 2 – Saturday December 7
10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Returning for a second year, University Place and The Sweet Tooth Fairy invites Utah bakers to create whimsical gingerbread houses for shoppers to vote on throughout the week.  These houses will be displayed in Lodge Court, located by RC Willey. (Registration is required.)

Quiet Santa
Monday, December 2 – Saturday, Friday 6
5:00 -7:00 p.m.
The Quiet Santa experience is designed specifically for children with sensory sensitivities. One in five Utah children have some degree of sensory sensitivity, and Quiet Santa makes it possible for them to spend one-on-one time with Santa without being overwhelmed by the typical crowds and noise. More details, including registration information, will be released on our website closer to the dates.

Live Nativity
Friday, December 6
6:00 p.m.
University Place, Orem Community Church and the Orem Institute of Religion are partnering again to bring you the Live Nativity at The Orchard at University Place, complete with free hot chocolate and treats (while supplies last).

Santa & Friends Christmas Concert
Monday, December 16
5:45 p.m.
This new event is a chance for families to come and join Santa and his friends for a special, hour-long Christmas concert.
