OREM, Utah (November 1, 2017) – University Place, a 120-acre mixed-use development project formerly known as University Mall, today announced its 2017 holiday schedule for families and kids of all ages.

The holiday season at University Place will kick-off on Monday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m. as The Orchard is illuminated with a new unique color-changing, hands-on lighting experience. This celebration will include live entertainment and keepsakes for the kids. The lights at The Orchard will be on nightly throughout the entire holiday season.

Then, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Black Friday, a long tradition continues as Santa and Mrs. Claus make their grand arrival to their temporary home at Santa’s Village, located in the heart of University Place. Visitors will be able to visit with Santa in his new Woodland Chalet display and have photos taken during regular mall hours through December 23. This year, University Place will also offer a Quiet Santa for children with sensory sensitivity (more details below).

Additional holiday festivities taking place at University Place include:

Giving Tree
Dates: November 24 – December 16
Throughout the season, community members will be able to select ornaments—provided by Utah County Sub for Santa—from the Giving Tree that represent local individuals who are in need this holiday season.

Live Nativity
Date: December 8
Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
University Place and Orem Community Church have partnered again on this Live Nativity event, which will take place at The Orchard. This tradition began last year, and is the only Utah County nativity event to feature live animals and local musical numbers as well as free hot drinks and treats.

Habitat For Humanity holiday gift wrapping
Dates: December 16 – December 24
Times: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Bring any item purchased at University place to the Habitat for Humanity station and for a small fee you can get your gift wrapped.

Quiet Santa
Dates: November 27 – 30 and December 4 – 7
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
New this year, children with sensory sensitivity will have the opportunity to spend one-on-one quiet time with Quiet Santa before the mall opens. One in five Utah children experience sensory sensitivity, so this will provide an opportunity for them to take part in a holiday tradition without being overwhelmed by the typical crowds and noise. Please check our website for more details.

Santa Story Time
Dates: December 11-13
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Children are invited to come in their pajamas for a special story time with Santa and “snow” play time. Tickets are $15 per child (age 3+) on Eventbrite and includes a children’s meal, free picture with Santa, crafts, and a commemorative gift. Tickets must be pre-purchased on Eventbrite or with cash only for $10 at Customer Service prior to the event. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Please check our website for more details.
